Hey Gibbons
Thanks for the shout out. A sad day indeed. The Mid O Diaspora is indeed a fine thing. The paper will be sadly missed. I have no doubt the great voices that graced the newspaper's pages until recently will find new places to be heard.

Wow. Didn't know that the two slashes were such an annoyance. Shoot more annoying is file names with spaces in them, so their url comes out having a bunch of %20s all over the place. That to me is far worse...

Chris, love the post.
I think Bermuda forgets how many people are interested in reading about Bermuda from abroad. I left Bermuda five years ago and still read The Royal Gazette often to keep up with news from the island - and I'd love to have access to magazines like RG, Bottom Line and Bermudian Business. Getting hold of a copy of them was hard enough in Bermuda, but abroad it is nigh on impossible - uploading them would certainly bring a smile to my face and I'm sure many others.

Also there are ways for magazines to use new media to boost profile and circulation and set themselves apart from others. Look at Insurance Journal's Facebook page as an example. Twitter can be used to tease readers in 140 characters - "just got an exclusive witht the Premier... don't forget to buy Bermudian Business next month to read all about it..." Or posting URL links to stories.

Mairi
PS - I hope you've Tweeted the URL to this blog and posted it on the Bermuda groups on LinkedIn.

FWIW, Axiotron has been making Mac tablet computers for some time.

Called the ModBook, they consist of various models of MacBook Pros that have been outfitted with touchscreens, and sans keyboard.

But the alleged new models you cited are pretty cool.

Just seen your ramblings on Friars Website and reminded of those Saturday nights and the last train home. Remember your great coat and the vodka well. It seems a lifetime ago when some of us would go to Watford in the afternoon (Teef, Stephen Gregory to name a few) and then we would all arrive in the Green Man before the gigs fresh from the game and ready for 5 or six pints. So many good gigs Queen (even though their lightshow did not arrive) Genesis at the Maxwell , Bowie as you say for 90pence Hunter Ronson Band , Ronnie Lanes Slim Chance, Boomtown Rats Tom Petty ...

You should check out Ingrid Michaelson. She's actually quite good, in a "chick rock/pop" kinda way.

She's the one that does the song for... whatever car ad it is... that goes "I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok. I just want to be ok today"

There's a song, "You and I", that she performed with Jason Mraz on his tour (she opened for him and he'd come out and sing it with her) that's really sweet.

God Bless you Chris. This is the first time I have seen this video. I am very thankful that you have chosen to post the video. My prayer continues to be for true love and unity amongst the people of Bermuda. There is much healing that needs to take place. I do believe that when we get "it" right at the top, then it will trinkle down into the streets of Bermuda. PS: If possible, I would like to have a copy of thsis video for my archives. May God conitnue to guide you in all that you do. Blessings Abound!
